BOULDER, Colo. - Shade Tree Software, LLC is proud to announce its first product, ProDiag. ProDiag is a PalmOS(r)-based vehicle diagnostics tool for Volkswagen and Audi vehicles. ProDiag allows professional and home mechanics to check their cars for trouble codes, monitor their engine in real-time as well as make tuning adjustments. Though significantly less expensive, ProDiag has the same capabilities as the official VW Group VAG 1551 and 1552 tools. More than just a generic OBD-II scan tool, ProDiag also offers advanced features, such as automated testing and data and fault code logging, which save time and provide more information than other tools.

VWs and Audis, like other modern, computer-controlled vehicles, are difficult, if not impossible, to diagnose and repair without access to the many electronic control units (ECUs) found in the vehicles. A proper diagnostic tool is a must for home and professional mechanics alike. Shade Tree Software, LLC, addresses this need through its cost-effective, compact and easy-to-use PDA-based tool, ProDiag.

Because of the compact size of PalmOS-based PDAs, ProDiag is an ideal tool to keep in tool boxes or glove compartments. Other third-party diagnostic tools require the use of expensive handheld devices or laptop PCs, which are bulkier and are subject to damage in garage environments.

ProDiag contains more than two thousand diagnostic trouble code messages, just like the factory tools. It also utilizes more than a hundred different data-specific equations for reporting real-time ECU data, such as engine speed, air intake temperature, timing or turbo boost.

Retailing at $249, the ProDiag PDA software comes with a small adapter for connecting a PDA's serial cable to the vehicle and a user's manual.

With new PalmOS PDAs available for $150 or less, a mechanic can purchase a PDA, a serial cable and ProDiag for less than $400. This is significantly lower than the cost of other currently available handheld tools, or the laptops required to run other third-party diagnostic tools.

ProDiag is available at Shade Tree Software, LLC's web site: http://shadetreesoftware.com/.

Founded in 2002, Shade Tree Software, LLC is a Colorado based company specializing in vehicle diagnostic tools.
